« Orange peel skin » describes the pitted aspect of the skin when it is stretched over an accumulation of fat. When the adipose tissues (fat cells) situated under the skin become blocked with fat and engorge, they put pressure on blood and lymph vessels and this leads to a poor elimination of toxins and fluids. The enlargement of the fat cells and connective tissue encourages the development of cellulite, hence the dimpled aspect of the skin commonly called « orange peel skin ».
